The new Arctic Rescue, which is suitable for kids generally 7 and older, will transport riders snowmobile-style over a twisting, looping course with speeds reaching 40 mph.
SeaWorld’s enthusiasm for roller coasters continues unabated with the opening this Friday of Arctic Rescue, the fourth coaster in five years.
The height limit for the ride is 48 inches, which typically means that children 7 and older will be able to board the coaster, although the age can vary, SeaWorld said. Coaster enthusiast Andrew Rybarczyk, who is president of coaster-net.com, says SeaWorld is smart to introduce another family-friendly coaster as it’s been more than a decade since Manta, which has slightly faster speeds, came on line. The San Diego park, he notes, is in good company. Visitors to coaster-net’s YouTube channel have called 2023 the year of the family coaster.
In keeping with SeaWorld’s master plan, which requires that at least 75 percent of the park’s total attractions include “significant” educational and/or animal conservation-related elements, Wild Arctic has a few ways of educating both young and adult visitors, said Lake.As park guests arrive at the attraction, there are signs that talk about the different animals that exist in the Arctic and they reference rescues in that area.
