A black bear brought delight to Colorado park rangers after it took hundreds of “selfies” on wildlife research cameras.
The Open Space and Mountain Parks, located in Boulder, Colorado, set up cameras across its 46,000 acres in order to capture information about the landscape and its creatures.One bear took a special interest in a trap camera that captures images when an animal steps in front of the lens.
"These pictures made us laugh, and we thought others would, too," Phillip Yates, a spokesperson for Open Space and Mountain Parks, said in a statement Thursday.The photos have garnered cheerful reactions across social media.“Bears can make art too,” Boulder Arts+Culture tweeted.“People are very excited about all of the bear images that we captured,” OSMP said.
Yates noted that while the cameras do not always capture such entertaining photoshoots, they do provide helpful information on how to best protect important natural areas.
