After weeks of delay, senators introduced the Bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act Sunday night, a 2,700-page bill.

"We know that this has been a long and sometimes difficult process, but we are proud this evening to announce this legislation and we look forward very much to working with our colleagues in a collaborative and open way over the coming days to work through this historic investment in infrastructure," said SenatorSenator Rob Portman, a lead Republican negotiator, lauded the legislation and the lawmakers who were able to conclude last-minute tweaks over the weekend.
Ahead of its public release, Biden on Sunday called the deal"the most important investment in public transit in American history and the most important investment in rail since the creation of Amtrak 50 years ago." The White House has estimated that the plan would create about 2 million jobs a year on average over the next decade.Saturday that"upon completion of the bipartisan infrastructure bill, the Senate will turn to the budget resolution with reconciliation instructions.
