Severe thunderstorm warnings have been issued Friday night for storms with strong winds, heavy downpours and hail.

Tonight’s heavy rain, falling in areas of the state that are already saturated by recent rain showers and thunderstorms, triggered a flash flood warning in parts of Morris, Sussex and Warren counties, effective through 11:45 p.m. Friday.was issued in Passaic County, where the weather service says about a half-inch of rain has already fallen Friday night, and an additional 1 to 2 inches could fall.
The weather service estimated that 1 to 3 inches of rain has fallen in the areas of Morris, Sussex and Warren where the flash flood warning was issued, and another 1 or 2 inches of rain may fall tonight.These are among the most recent weather alerts issued in New Jersey that were still active as of 7 p.m. Friday.
