The National Weather Service issued a 'hazardous weather outlook' for parts of Texas, including Dallas County, late Tuesday into Wednesday.
“We are ready to respond and provide all support needed to Texans in North, Central and East Texas as they prepare for severe storms expected to impact their communities today and tomorrow morning,” Abbott said in a written statement.
Softball-sized hail was reported in multiple storms that moved through Central Texas, including near Waco, the weather service said. Thousands of Oncor customers in the Dallas-Fort Worth area were without power Wednesday afternoon, but that number dropped significantly by early evening, the company’s outage map showed.
A Dallas Fire-Rescue engine was responding to a call for a structure fire about 11:20 a.m. when it hydroplaned near the intersection of Garland Road and San Rafael Drive and collided with another vehicle, department spokesman Jason Evans said.
