SF Giants’ Alex Cobb flashes faster velocity in promising sign this spring
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — The good word made its way to Alex Cobb, player by player. The last person to recommend the training regimen at Driveline Baseball to Cobb happened to be Alex Wood, before either pitcher was a member of the Giants rotation.
He had been training during the pandemic at a site that Wood had also been using. When the two pitchers crossed paths there, Wood sang the praises of Driveline and told Cobb that it helped change his career. He began working with Driveline pitching coordinator Bill Hezel, who he would check in with weekly over the offseason. The two have maintained a line of communication since. The original plan was to just work on his delivery, but the added velocity has been a pleasant side effect.
