Right-hander Alex Cobb (right groin strain) could rejoin San Francisco’s rotation as soon as Sunday, manager Gabe Kapler said.

SAN FRANCISCO — As their active roster was ravaged by a growing number of COVID-19 cases, the Giants on Friday received some positive news regarding players who were already on the injured list.

Cobb, who suffered a mild groin strain last week against the Mets, checked out well after throwing a two-inning bullpen Thursday and could return without missing more than two turns through the rotation. Wade, who hasn’t played a game with the Giants this season after suffering his knee injury during spring training, has ramped up his rehab assignment over the past couple days. Wade was slated to play seven innings Friday night and led off the game with a double, then slugged a home run, too, after recording four at-bats in his last game Wednesday.
