ICYMI: Shakespeare on The Saskatchewan's Cymbeline is fitting chaos for the current moment
The play, while not as well-known as some of the Bard’s other works, evokes these hallmarks through the use of many Shakesperian tropes.
Imogen’s marriage to the lower-born Posthumus, something she had been barred from doing by her father King Cymbeline, kicks off the plot, with Posthumus banished and Imogen leaving to find him. “I think it does reflect and speak to where we’ve been in the last few years,” she said. “By the end of the play, everyone’s sort of found each other and they can’t quite figure out how that happened and that’s sort of what we’re all doing right now.”
