In a surprising twist to start the medley, Twain opened with acoustic covers of Post Malone's "Rockstar," Twenty One Pilots' "Stressed Out," Taylor Swift's "Shake It Off" and Drake's "God's Plan," displaying her rapping skills while wielding a jewel-encrusted guitar.
"Any Man of Mine" and "That Don't Impress Me Much" demonstrated Twain's continued stage command, as well as her undying love of leopard print. After a night-capping take on "Man! I Feel Like a Woman" that included some giddy dance moves, Twain invited Taylor Swift and the ceremony's host Ciara onstage to groove the AMAs to a close.
Ahead of a Las Vegas residency that kicks off on Dec. 6, Twain closed out an AMAs ceremony that included wins in the country categories for Carrie Underwood and Dan + Shay. Since making her AMAs debut in 1996, Twain has won favorite country female artist three times, and her mega-selling 1997 albumSwift was the big winner of the 2019 American Music Awards, taking home artist of the year after being named artist of the decade.
