Father charged with kidnapping son's teenage girlfriend at gunpoint
A 35-year-old Bexar County man has been arrested and charged with kidnapping his son’s teenage girlfriend at gunpoint after he saw her in a car with other boys.
Alexander McCormick faces charges of aggravated kidnapping, a first-degree felony, and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a second-degree felony, Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar said.Around 12:30 p.m. Friday, the 15-year-old girl and two male friends — all students at the same high school — were driving in western Bexar County when they noticed that a black Dodge Ram pickup was following them.
The girl complied, and McCormick allegedly drove her to a house where she was “reunited” with McCormick’s son.After a time, McCormick and his son decided to drop her off in a park nearby. As she was being driven there, the girl made a video call via Instagram to one of the teenage boys with whom she’d been driving around earlier and explained where she was being taken, Salazar said.
Unknown to McCormick and his son, sheriff’s deputies were with the teenage boy when he received the call. They met McCormick at the park, rescued the girl and arrested McCormick. In McCormick’s pickup, deputies found the same handgun he had brandished earlier, along with a shotgun, Salazar said.
