After nearly two years of silence, Shia LaBeouf has finally addressed the abuse allegations leveled against him. 'I f–ed up bad. Like crash and burn type sh–.'
Shia LaBeouf has finally addressed the abuse allegations from British musician FKA Twigs and his subsequent career low point. Twigs filed a sexual battery lawsuit against the actor nearly two years ago, in which LaBeouf has been accused of violently attacking his ex-girlfriend and knowingly infecting her with an STD, among other accounts of physical violence, verbal abuse, and sexual battery.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY Recent years have seen LaBeouf surrounded by a number of other public controversies and legal issues, with the actor being arrested again in 2020 and charged with misdemeanor battery and petty theft.
“I hurt her. And in the process of doing that, I hurt many other people, and many other people before that woman. I was a pleasure-seeking, selfish, self-centered, dishonest, inconsiderate, fearful human being ... When I think about what my life has become, and what it is now, like what my purpose is now ... I need to be useful. And when I look at this #MeToo environment, there's not a whole lot of dudes that are taking accountability. I f–ed up bad. Like crash and burn type sh–.
LaBeouf’s addressing of his abuse allegations and career low point bookends a week of media chaos for the actor. This past week saw reports of Olivia Wilde claiming to have fired LaBeouf from Don’t Worry Darling to maintain a “safe, trusting environment” on set, to which he then emailed various media outlets, asserting that he was not fired and quit the film himself due to lack of rehearsal time.
With two years behind him and the first revelations of the matter, Shia LaBeouf's insistance that he’s in a “much better place” may come as a promising sign in the lead up to his assault trial, which is scheduled to begin next April. Apart from Twigs and Goth, the suit also cites abuse against stylist Karolyn Pho, another former girlfriend of LaBeouf’s, who said he once pinned her to a bed and repeatedly headbutted her while drunk.
