Motives and suspects are being shot in the shootings of two men Tuesday night in East Oakland.
OAKLAND — Two men were shot about four hours apart Tuesday night in different areas of East Oakland, authorities said.
Both men, who are Oakland residents, were in stable condition. The shootings did not appear to be related after early investigation, authorities said. About 11:17 p.m. Tuesday a 57-year-old man was shot in the hand in the 5700 block of Foothill Boulevard. He told police he was standing outside when he heard some other people arguing and then heard a gunshot. He realized he had been shot in the hand and went to his vehicle parked nearby where he waited for police to respond. No other victims were found.About 7:30 p.m. a 49-year-old man was shot in the shoulder in the 2700 block of 67th Avenue. He got his own transportation to a hospital where police were contacted.
Police said it appeared the man was shot by another man who fired at him with a rifle. A motive for the shooting was not immediately determined and no arrests were announced.
