Joly, who stepped down in CEO, did such a good job with his plans—“Renew Blue,” launched in 2013, and “Building the New Blue” in 2018—to reinvent Best Buy, that the obvious question is, “How do you top that?” Barry has set what she called an aggressive, but attainable goal of reaching $50 billion in annual revenue by 2025, a 16.5% improvement over $42.9 billion in fiscal year 2019. The Chapter Two plan also calls for doubling the number of “significant customer relationship events”—as measured by paid memberships for tech support, use of in-home consultation services, senior care support, and other services—to 50 million by 2025.
The bottom line, Barry told investors and analysts is, “we want to be more important to more households” and to be the leading source of “tech with a human touch.”
