VIDEO: Snohomish community comes together for fundraiser for West Seattle Bridge crash victimsSNOHOMISH, Wash. — The Snohomish community banded together Wednesday to support the families of two 18-year-olds who were killed by a wrong-way driver last week.
Dozens of cars could be seen outside of a Mcdonald’s on Avenue D where a fundraiser was held in memory of Riley Danard and Khalea Thoeuk. “I didn’t know Khalea, but Riley was the sweetest kid. He would do anything for anybody,” said Peggy Canell. “It is a really sad time, and I just want to say thanks to this community. You know, Snohomish always seems to pull together, you know, to help people and this really shows how much they love their community.”The pair were out celebrating Danard’s 18th birthday last Wednesday when they were struck by a pickup truck on the West Seattle Bridge.
Police said the truck driver showed signs that he was impaired. He is under investigation for vehicular homicide.
