In a second-round win over TCU, Gonzaga's Drew Timme tied a record with his ninth career 20-point game in the NCAA Tournament. He finished with 28 points against the Horned Frogs after scoring 21 in a first-round win over Grand Canyon.LAS VEGAS — He has a legendary name. A legendary game. Otherwise, we might have been robbed of another season of one of the country's most entertaining basketball players. After the Zags beat TCU to advance to the Sweet 16, Timme claimed TCU fans got him riled up before the game. He looks goofy at times, but Timme can play. He has such outstanding footwork, pivoting around and past defenders with assorted head and ball fakes, that opponents can’t figure out what to do with him.
Timme was a top recruit, but his Richardson Pearce high school teams were never good enough to advance to the regional tournament. He has learned how to win at Gonzaga. Timme will end his college career having never lost two games in a row. A consensus first-team All-American and the West Coast Conference co-Player of the Year, Timme was named one of four finalists for the Naismith Trophy as college basketball’s best.
