Desperate and out of options, Ross Chastain called upon a move he made in a video game to land in NASCAR'S Championship 4 finale at Phoenix Raceway.

NASCAR rarely, if ever, produces a moment that inflames the internet, dominates social media and leaves racing experts and novices equally perplexed and amazed.

Ross Chastain put them there, and in doing so, earned a place in the Championship 4 field in NASCAR’s season finale Sunday at Phoenix Raceway. Why didn’t the car slow? How did air stay in the tires? Why didn’t something in the suspension break to keep him from catching Hamlin? It was a moment born out of desperation and made by a driver who has fought, scraped and raced nearly everything with wheels and a motor in order to one day have a season like this one.

“I can get excited about what we’ve accomplished,” he said, “and I can also be scared to death of what we accomplished. There are nerves. There is anxiety. There is fear of failure. But how cool is it that I get to do this?”Capsules on the Final Four drivers competing for the Cup Series title Sunday at Phoenix Raceway
