last December, and more than two dozen states have moved to outlaw the use of TikTok on government devices and/or networks.TikTok presents an obvious national security threat. The company is owned by the Chinese technology company ByteDance, headquartered in Beijing. TikTok is supposedly a separate entity, but while the company has claimed that Chinese government officials don’t have access to user data, TikTok later admitted that some staff in China can access the data of international users.
It’s hard to imagine that many parents would happily allow the CCP to install a video camera in their child’s room or invite a Chinese spy over for dinner — unless you’re Eric Swalwell, of course. Then why, with between the ages of 12 and 17 using TikTok in 2021, are we giving the CCP a window into the lives of our children?
