SoundCloud is showing artists which listeners earn them the most money, as the platform teases more potential monetization tools
The feature also indicates which listeners contribute significantly to an artist's royalty earnings.SoundCloud is testing a new dashboard called"Fans" that reveals to artists information about their listeners. The tool scores whether a listener is a big contributor to an artist's royalty earnings relative to other fans on the app, for instance.
In its current state, the dashboard mostly offers artists a snapshot of what their most engaged fans look like along with the option to send each a direct message. One performer used the tool to decide which fans to invite to a listening party, for example, SoundCloud's SVP of creator Tracy Chan told Insider.
"As artists and fans are connecting, it opens a world of possibility of different commerce models because ultimately it's activating that fan base who wants to support you financially," Chan said."We think that this is that next step in that journey." The"Fans" dashboard is meant to be top-level, Chan said, offering"high" or"medium" scores for listeners so they quickly identify as top fans.
