A Santa Clara County duo pleaded not guilty Wednesday to charges that they fatally shot an acquaintance and left his body down the side of a Highway 9 embankment.
SANTA CRUZ — A Santa Clara County duo pleaded not guilty Wednesday to charges that they fatally shot an acquaintance andSanta Cruz County Sheriff’s Office authorities located the body of Oliver Waterfall, 24, of San Jose, on April 11, off the road between Paradise Park and the Garden of Eden. Investigators believe the body was left down the hillside March 17, according to agency spokesperson Ashley Keehn.
Defendants Dennis Novoa, 27, of San Jose, and Diana Ornelas, 22, of Santa Clara, appeared for their arraignment on murder charges before a courtroom packed with their supporters, along with Waterfall’s family and friends. Novoa and Ornelas remained held without bail in Santa Cruz County Jail.
