With much of the golf world congregated in not merely one, but two North Texas cities, speculation is percolating about the AT&T Byron Nelson golf...

“We did have several groups out,” he said. “We did have the folks from CJ out. They spent some time with us; we spent some time with them. Same with two other groups that haven’t come to light yet.

“Clearly these are big discussions that take time,” Drago said. “We’re confident because we have AT&T if something doesn’t happen for next year, but we feel like discussions [with other companies] are going extremely well and hope to have something in the near future.”that a notable discussion point among the PGA Tour, Salesmanship Club and potential sponsors has been the Salesmanship Club’s adamancy that Byron Nelson remain part of the tournament’s name, as has been the case since 1968.

Through the years, corporate names gradually have replaced traditional ones in the PGA Tour, including the currently named Schwab Challenge in Fort Worth, which had Colonial in its name from 1946 to 2015.
