Thanks to changing weather conditions, firefighters made major headway containing Northern California’s Caldor fire over the weekend, leading to evacuation orders being downgraded and allowing residents living south of Lake Tahoe, one of the most populated areas to be threatened by the fire, to
return home.... [+]On Monday morning, the Caldor fire had been 44% contained, the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection said,and rises in humidity allowed firefighters to take advantage of the slowed pace of the wildfire to focus on mitigation efforts to keep the blaze from spreading further.
