UPDATE: Southwest Airlines Resumes Service After 'Technology Issues' Lead to Nationwide Ground Stop
Southwest Airlines service has resumed after flights at airports across the country were temporarily paused due to an"intermittent technology issue," the airline and the Federal Aviation Administration said Tuesday.
"Southwest has resumed operations after temporarily pausing flight activity this morning to work through data connection issues resulting from a firewall failure," a statement to NBC 5 from the airline read. "Early this morning, a vendor-supplied firewall went down and connection to some operational data was unexpectedly lost. Southwest Teams worked quickly to minimize flight disruptions ... We appreciate the patience of our Customers and Employees during this morning’s brief disruption," the statement continued.
