SpaceX is set to attempt thattoday, President and COO Gwynne Shotwell said during an industry meeting in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday.
For years, SpaceX has been developing Starship at its South Texas base. The stainless-steel, fully reusable rocket system is part of NASA’s Artemis program aiming to return astronauts to the moon and it’s key to the company’s Starlink network of communication satellites. SpaceX CEO Elon Musk also envisions Starship to eventually bring humans to Mars.
