‘Squawking chicken truck’ from PETA will ‘confront’ diners at 6 Dallas restaurants today

PETA supporters are driving a truck through Dallas on Jan. 19, 2023 with photos of chickens on their way to slaughter. The truck plays sounds of chickens squawking. The marketing effort is an attempt to encourage passersby to go vegan.A replica chicken transport truck “covered with images of real chickens crammed into crates on their way to the slaughterhouse” will drive around Dallas starting at lunchtime today, Thursday, Jan. 19, 2023.

They call the truck “Hell on Wheels,” and it includes recorded sounds of birds’ cries. The text on the truck reads “Does this bother you? Then go vegan.” The truck is expected to make circles near the AT&T Discovery District in downtown Dallas from noon to 3 p.m. on Jan. 19. Then it will visit five other chicken restaurants in the Dallas area in the next few days and five in Fort Worth:Mike’s Chicken on Maple Avenue in Dallas: 5-7 p.m. Jan. 19Dave’s Hot Chicken in Preston Road in Far North Dallas: 3-5 p.m. Jan. 20Gus’s World Famous Chicken in Fort Worth: noon-3 p.m. Jan. 21Charleston’s Restaurant in Fort Worth: noon-3 p.m. Jan.

PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman’s mission is to tell consumers that “the kindest meal is a vegan one.”
