Yoda's surprise connection to Luke's green lightsaber revealed in Star Wars.
Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Warning! This article contains spoilers for Star Wars #35 Luke Skywalker’s green lightsaber is one of the most iconic weapons in Star Wars, as it was Luke’s own saber, not the one he was given by Obi-Wan, passed down from his father. The green saber was representative of Luke becoming his own Jedi, not just a shadow or remnant of the fallen Jedi Order.
Luke’s green lightsaber first appeared in Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi, which cemented it as Luke’s official lightsaber from that point forward, as shown in The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, and throughout the entire sequel trilogy. While it's certainly gotten its fair share of screen time, the mystery behind its origin would remain until the current Star Wars comic series by Marvel Comics.
Yoda’s Influence Helped Make Luke Skywalker’s Lightsaber Green In Star Wars #35 by Charles Soule and Madibek Musabekov, Luke meditates with the pure kyber crystal given to him by Dr. Cuata, when his spirit is suddenly whisked away to Dagobah, where he meets Master Yoda. While Luke is convinced it’s all happening in his mind, it’s later confirmed that this meeting was real - at least in the metaphysical sense - and Yoda actually was involved in this process.
It’s unclear exactly what Yoda did to contribute to Luke Skywalker’s kyber crystal being green aside from the clear faith he has in the boy’s training, but it doesn’t seem like a coincidence that Luke visited him while attempting a connection with his crystal, only for it to turn green afterward. Yoda’s lightsaber is famously green, and a green lightsaber indicates a Jedi’s strength in their connection with the Force, as opposed to a blue lightsaber, which indicates one’s acumen in battle.
Whatever the reason, there’s a clear cause and effect present in this issue that hasn’t yet fully revealed itself, aside from the obvious facts of the situation. Yoda was involved in Luke Skywalker connecting with his first kyber crystal, and that kyber crystal became green. Originally, Yoda’s involvement was never even hinted at, let alone outright confirmed.
