George Lucas originally wanted Ahsoka Tano to die in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, but the franchise has since proven that The Maker was wrong. Ahsoka was created by Lucas to give Anakin Skywalker a Padawan, though the ultimate fate of the character was a point of frequent debate between him and supervising director Dave Filoni.
"I had a lot of discussions with George over this stuff throughout the years. Every now and then I’d be like, “So, I’ve been giving a lot of thought about what happens to Ahsoka.” In the early days, he’d be like, “Well, she’s gonna die.” I’d be like, “Well... maybe not.”"
