The Odessa shootout, which occurred just weeks after the Walmart shooting in El Paso, Texas, is the fourth such tragedy in the state since 2017
The tragedy in Texas also raised the sadly-familiar desperate calls for new gun legislation, particularly from Democratic candidates in the 2020 election. Texas congressman and 2020 hopefulin particular expressed frustration with the seeming inability to enact meaningful reform.
“Don’t know what the motivation is, do not yet know the firearms that were used or how they acquired them, but we do know this is fucked up,” O'Rourke, who is running for Virginia House 40th District. “We do know that this has to stop in this country.
