Applications for the program opened on March 27 and will remain open until April 15, according to the city."Individuals selected to participate in the program will be issued a debit card," a city manager's office representative told the Washington Examiner."Every month, the city will load $500 on the debit card.
To be eligible, an applicant must live within the city limits of El Monte, be a single female head of household with no spouse or partner in the house, and have children younger than 17. Additionally, applicants must have a verified income at or below the federal poverty line, be able to show a need for financial assistance due to the coronavirus pandemic, and be able to submit documents verifying school enrollment, proof of residency, proof of income, and a government-issued ID.
Those interested in applying for this program can do so either in person at the city manager's office, online, or by mail.
