A 17-year-old student has fallen two stories at Pedro Menendez High School, the St. Johns County School District tells Action News Jax.
PMHS Principal Clay Carmichael shared the following message with parents:
“Today we did have a medical emergency in our courtyard during 1st lunch. The student did not lose conscientious – however, the student, did sustain injuries in which the St. Johns County Fire Recue medical personnel determined that life flight was needed for transport. We did take steps in order to manage confidentiality of that student. Once the scene was cleared, we continued with a normal school day.
District officials said they’ve received reports the student jumped two stories, something several parents told Action News Jax’s Logan MacDonald. But the district is still investigating the incident and what led up to it.We spoke to one parent picking up his child early after the incident. Howard Kennerly said he can’t imagine what the child’s family is going through.
“I hate that for somebody. I hate that for somebody’s parents, of course, somebody’s family. Couldn’t imagine,” Kennerly said.
