The Delaware teacher had expected to get engaged over a romantic weekend — not in her classroom.
Twenty excited second-grade students helped their teacher get engaged at school holding “Will you marry me?” signs.
“Jared was insistent on going somewhere for the weekend,” Darczuk tells Yahoo Lifestyle. “I said, ‘What about short day trips?’ but he wanted a ‘real vacation.’” During the day, she received an urgent text message from her boss, requesting help with a literacy program she led last year. Behind him, 20 of her students held four signs that combined read, “Will you marry me?” She was shocked. “It didn’t click at first because I had mentally prepared myself for the possibility of getting engaged this weekend,” Darczuk tells Yahoo Lifestyle. Her now-fiancee said, “I love you and I want to be with you,” before presenting her with a rose-gold ring.
