Judy McReynolds, chairman, president and CEO of ArcBest Corp. The company has made strides on diversity, she said, with women or minorities now making up about 30% of ArcBest’s supervisors and 44% of its board members.

The Black Lives Matter and Me Too movements have grabbed the attention of supply-chain leaders, said Caroline Chumakov, a senior principal analyst at Gartner’s supply-chain practice. “The newest generations in that workforce are putting pressure on their employers,” Ms. Chumakov said. “The years to come will show what they actually do as a result of those commitments.

Women are faring better, although they are underrepresented at the top. Women comprised 41% of the supply-chain workforce in 2021, according to a separate survey by Gartner and Awesome, a leadership organization focused on women in supply-chain management, operations and education. That is up from 39% in 2020 and the highest share since the survey began in 2016.
