The Supreme Court is slated to return to the bench for the start of its new term on Monday, with the justices set to take up politically divisive cases involving the Second Amendment, religious liberty and abortion.

But New York Attorney General Letitia James has said the law "is consistent with the historical scope of the Second Amendment" and advances the state's interests in public safety and crime prevention. Larsen said even if the court issues a narrow decision in the case, or allows some limits on the right to carry a firearm in public, the conservative justices will likely include language that strengthens Second Amendment rights.
