'This is a staggering and heart-breaking number that affects all of us very deeply,' Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava said.

The missing-person's list from the condominium collapse in Surfside, Florida, was cut by nearly a fourth as 14 more victims were found Friday, bringing the death toll to 78.

Rescuers on their 16th day of searching through the rubble have not found any survivors since hours after the 12-story Champlain Towers South building came down on June 24, the Associated Press reported. The number of those still missing is now at 62 and Cava said the recovery effort continues. The death toll following the collapse of the condominium building in Surfside, Florida, is at 78 after 14 more victims were found.
