A 36-year-old man was in San Francisco county jail after his arrest earlier this month in the East Bay in connection with a same-day robbery and carjacking of victims in their 70s and 80s, authorities said.

The victim declined, he said; the man pushed him to the ground and took belongings from him before running south along Leavenworth. The victim was treated for non-life-threatening injuries at a hospital and released. When the woman returned to her car minutes later, the man approached her again. When she said no again and tried to get into her car, the man took her keys from her, got behind the wheel and partially ran over her as he drove away. She was taken to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

After investigators found probable cause linking the man to the Leavenworth robbery, he was also arrested on suspicion of robbery, battery causing serious bodily injury, false imprisonment, elder abuse, and two charges of inflicting great bodily injury.
