BREAKING Suspect in violent 3-county crime spree taken into custody in South Philly
According to police, investigators are searching for Zahkee Austin, of Philadelphia, who is considered armed and dangerous.Philadelphia police say the 22-year-old suspect wanted for committing several crimes including an attempted homicide in Delaware County has been taken into custody.
Zahkee Austin was arrested by Philadelphia police officers in South Philadelphia early Tuesday morning, police say.Pennsylvania State Police say the suspect is wanted for an attempted homicide in Middletown Township, Delaware County.Authorities say Austin broke into a home around 1 a.m. Monday where a man and a woman lived on Franklin Boulevard in Middletown Township, Delaware County.Neighbors say the victims are sweet people who always keep to themselves."We met the other week.
West Goshen Police Capt. Justin DeMedio tells Action News, "The vehicle that he had eventually fled north on High Street in West Goshen was previously reported to be carjacked in Philadelphia earlier in the night."That's where Austin is accused of pulling a gun on the store clerk. But the clerk had his own gun and opened fire.
Investigators say Austin ran, abandoning the stolen vehicle which was quickly impounded by Philadelphia police.Action News has learned Austin faced gun charges in 2020 and drug charges in 2018.
