Lanier High School named their music building the Belle Ortiz Music Building. She began mariachi music education at Lanier HS back in the 1970s.

The San Antonio Police Department released a video capturing an officer-involved shooting that unfolded on Tuesday, Jan. 9 near the 6900 block of Timbercreek. Without warning, Vasquez unleashed a barrage of gunfire, forcing officers to seek cover behind nearby vehicles. Recognizing the severity of the situation, the SAPD Negotiations Unit and SWAT team were summoned to the scene.
Following the confrontation, Vasquez was transported to a local hospital and is reported to be in stable condition. Thankfully, no other individuals were harmed during the exchange of gunfire.
