, the summer of 2019 was focused on experimenting with new projects outside of his signature “Vandal Gummy” bears. For the past five years, WhIsBe’s adorable but menacing pop art renditions of the iconic gummy bear have catapulted his work beyond the art world into mainstream fashion and music festivals. explains. The works feature a full-body portrait of an expressionless bear holding a Department of Corrections sign as if it were posing for a mug shot. The Gummy has undergone several iterations as a 2-D silkscreen on paper and a 3-D sculpture. To reignite the bond between creator and cub, WhIsBe is bringing Vandal Gummy, including a bear statue valued at $60,000, back into the spotlight during Miami Art Week, which coincides with Art Basel Miami Beach, the international art show that runs from December 5 to December 8. The 7-foot fiberglass sculpture was finished in flamingo pink, a signature color that pays homage to the city of Miami.
and Daniel decided it would be best to team up during Art Basel, catering to an international crowd that’s savvy to both the arts and fine dining.”
