It's a Thursday night ACC clash between the Syracuse Orange and Virginia Tech Hokies, and the loser will be put in a tough spot to make a bowl game. Our college football betting picks say neither offense can be trusted so expect a low-scoring game.The Syracuse Orange will look to snap a three-game losing streak when they visit the Virginia Tech Hokies on Thursday night.
That’s a disappointing run for Dino Babers’ team. While nobody thought Syracuse would remain undefeated for long, the lack of competitiveness against quality competition has come as a shock after how good the Orange looked against weaker opponents – usually a sign that a team can at least stay in games against better squads.
Syracuse has been an Under team all season long, going below the number now six consecutive times. While oddsmakers aren’t expecting a huge offensive output, this looks like it could be a struggle to score on both sides, as well as a return to form for the Orange defense after a week off. With points at a premium, I’m playing the Under.I’m keeping things simple for the same-game parlay this week, relying on a classic two-leg bet that combines the total and the game result.
While I think this game is close to a tossup, my inclination is to back the Orange. Syracuse looked utterly dominant against weaker competition, struggling only when their schedule turned to elite opponents that outclassed it in terms of talent. That won’t be the case this week. As a quick example, Virginia Tech lost to the Purdue Boilermakers by a touchdown at home, while Syracuse beat them by two scores on the road. I’m leaning towards taking the points with the Orange.
