T-wolves F Jaden McDaniels gets 5-year, $136M extension
Minnesota Timberwolves forward Jaden McDaniels agreed to a five-year, $136 million extension, his agents said Monday.
Nima Namakian of Innovate Sports and Bill Duffy of WME Sports confirmed the details with The Athletic as McDaniels prepares to open his fourth NBA season on Wednesday night at Toronto. McDaniels, 23, averaged 12.1 points, 3.9 rebounds and 1.9 assists and shot 39.8 percent from 3-point distance in 79 games for the Timberwolves in 2022-23.
He has career averages of 9.6 points and 3.9 rebounds in 212 games for Minnesota, who acquired him from the Los Angeles Lakers in a three-team trade after the 2020 NBA Draft. McDaniels was scheduled to earn a base salary of $3.9 million this season in the fourth year of his rookie deal. The Lakers drafted him in the first round in 2020 out of Washington.
