Tarrant County deputy dies after on-duty ‘medical emergency,’ department says

The deputy suffered an emergency while on a call around 5 p.m., officials from the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office said. They did not say where the emergency took place or describe the nature of the incident. The sheriff’s office identified the deputy Monday as Deputy Billy W. Scheets. Scheets was taken to Harris Hospital in Azle, where he died, authorities said. Scheets worked with the sheriff’s office since 2003.
