“I would come in from my Friday high school football game, 1 a.m. after driving back from Amarillo or wherever,” Dykes said. “Walk in the living room of the house, and my dad and [A&M coach] R.C. Slocum were in there having a drink the night before the game. So in that spirit, I was going to invite coach Harbaugh to my hotel room tonight and see if we wanted to open up a bottle of bourbon and reminisce.
More than once this season, Dykes has imagined how much his father would have enjoyed this season’s TCU group.
