Each month, our scouting staff pulls together all of the new information we have received to realign our thoughts in the form of top-100 NFL draft ballots. The objective is simple: average out the grades of the entire team to identify a consensus top-100 ranking, the, of the best NFL draft prospects in all of college football. This is a consistently evolving set of rankings, particularly here and now as games are being played and players are laying the foundation of their individual resumes.
Here, I’ll outline five 2023 NFL Draft prospects who are most certainly ranked too low by the consensus data . Here are five players within the December update to the TDN100 that I am admittedly higher on than the group, and why I think we’ll see a jump in their respective rankings when the January update rolls around.No, Oregon Ducks defensive lineman Brandon Dorlus isn’t the next coming of Arik Armstead or DeForest Buckner. But he’s an athletic big man with ample disruptive plays to his name.
Kraft may have a daunting leap in the level of competition, but how often are tight ends drafted with the expectation that they’re year-one studs anyway? It’s just one of the accepted norms of the position… they take time. All good things to those who wait; so don’t hesitate to nab Kraft earlier than 49th on draft day. He ranked 35th on my personal TDN100 ballot.Beebe is a candidate for this list thanks to having multiple positional outcomes on his resume in the NFL.
Brown is a scheme-specific runner who likely will shine best in an outside-zone-heavy rushing system—his speed and lack of mass to run between the tackles make that an obvious fit. So if there’s an NFL team that ends up drafting for need, I could certainly see him coming off the board as an earlier running back than some people think—which could have him drafted a good bit before this ranking. For what it’s worth, I had Brown ranked 70th on my own NFL Draft rankings ballot.
