How you wash your hands is just as important as what you use to clean them -- a 2-second rub and rinse won’t cut it. Follow these CDC guidelines:Lather your hands by rubbing them together with the soap. Scrub all surfaces of your hands, including the palms, backs, fingers, between your fingers, and under your nails. Keep scrubbing for 20 seconds. Need a timer? Hum the “Happy Birthday” song twice.Metcalf says she and her family have been sick, along with a lot of students and teachers, so the experiment was a “shocking and enlightening” one that made them more aware of classroom hygiene.
