OAKLAND — Hundreds more job cuts are set to batter the Bay Area economy in the wake of additional layoffs being planned by tech companies, a restaurant and a maritime logistics firm, official state reports show.
The latest job cut announcements are poised to eliminate well over 300 more jobs in the Bay Area, according to WARN letters that were sent to the state Employment Development Department. Tech companies Evernote, Chipper Cash, Futurewei Technologies and Minted plan to eliminate a combined 163 jobs. This fresh round of tech layoffs will affect workers in Santa Clara, Redwood City, San Francisco and Hayward.
BJ’s Restaurants is cutting 90 jobs in San Rafael and GSC Logistics is eliminating 80 positions in Oakland.
