UPDATE: Phoenix Day, 13, has been identified as the teen who was shot at the Town Center at Aurora in a parking lot Saturday.
When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered a “young teenage boy” who had been shot. First responders tried to help the boy but could not save his life.
The victim was identified Wednesday as 13-year-old Phoenix Day, according to the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office. He died of gunshot wounds and his manner of death is a homicide. The circumstances that led up to the shooting were not immediately clear, police said, and investigators were working to determine the nature of the relationship between the shooter and the victim.
