An 18-year-old has pleaded guilty to amended charges of second-degree murder and armed robbery, and has been sentenced to prison in the 2020 death of a Jacksonville woman.
Taiden Gee, who was 16 at the time of his arrest, was sentenced on Feb. 25 to 49 years in prison with a minimum maximum of 10 years. He’s getting credit for two years of time served, and Gee’s lawyers have asked the judge for mercy in the case.. He told prosecutors that he was dating Gaddis’ daughter, and at one time lived with them. He claimed that he tried to protect Gaddis during the robbery and that he was guilt-ridden over her death.
He gave the name of a person to investigators that he claimed was the shooter, but no one else has been charged in the murder. The defense also raised mental health concerns that resulted from childhood abuse.
