Tesla Model Y Becomes Europe's Best-Selling Car In November | Carscoops carscoops
‘s compact SUV didn’t fare as well for the year as a whole. It did show impressive growth over the past year, selling 105,283 units in 2022 compared to 18,513 in 2021, but that only placed 20th out of the top 50 best-sellers. The number one seller of 2022 was actually the Peugeot 208, which sold 193,743 units this past year. That number is up from 175,375 in 2021, marking a respectable 10.5 percent increase in sales.
Arguably the most consistent car, though, was the Dacia Sandero, which came in second place for both the monthly and yearly charts. In November of this year, the Sandero sold 18,746 units compared to 16,169 the same time last year, which is a 15.9 percent increase. For the whole year, Dacia sold 180,553 Sanderos in 2022 compared to 177,445, which is only a 1.8 percent increase, but still an increase nonetheless.
In order, the top 10 best-selling cars of the month were the Tesla Model Y, Dacia Sandero, Toyota Yaris,, Peugeot 208, Renault Clio, Volkswagen Golf, Volkswagen T-Roc, Toyota Yaris Cross, and Citroen C3. Volkswagen had an impressive showing in the top 10, occupying 30 percent of the spots. Likewise, Toyota occupied 20 percent of the spots.
For the year, the top 10 was the Peugeot 208, Dacia Sandero, Volkswagen T-Roc, Volkswagen Golf, Toyota Yaris, Opel Corsa, Dacia Duster, Citroen C3, Hyundai Tuscon, and Volkswagen Tiguan. This time around Volkswagen still occupied 30 percent of those top 10 spots, but Dacia managed to take Toyota’s place by occupying another 20 percent.
