The founder of Buckle Bunnies Fund, a mutual aid organization that helps Texans with reproductive health care, specifically abortions, continues her work to adapt to the challenging climate for reproductive health.
PUBLISHED 12:41 PM CDT Jul. 07, 2022SAN ANTONIO — Makayla Montoya Frazier anticipated the days of Roe v. Wade getting overturned.
"My patients are in the clinics, who are being told they can no longer get abortions at the clinics. We had people in Houston and Dallas who were waiting to get their abortion and they couldn’t,” Montoya Frazier said. Planned Parenthood South Texas explained to Spectrum News 1 through a statement why they haven’t resumed abortions.
“Each affiliate is its own independent 501 with unique boards, operating models, and circumstances. While affiliates may reach different conclusions, all decisions are grounded in our longstanding commitment to best meet the needs of the communities we serve and the challenging legal realities in which our health centers operate,” they said in the statement.
