Stanford advances to next week’s Final Four in Minneapolis.

Just like it did four and a half months ago while crashing Stanford’s national championship celebration at Maples Pavilion, Texas got the Cardinal to play on its terms Sunday night at Spokane Arena. And this time, a Final Four berth was at stake.
But Stanford, as champions do, found a way to push itself off the ropes. In a tense battle in the Spokane regional final, the Cardinal defeated Texas 59-50 to advance to next week’s Final Four in Minneapolis. Even as Texas hit a cold patch and Stanford went 6-for-8 over the final six minutes of the second quarter, the Longhorns were right there at halftime, down 30-27. Some iffy shot-making aside, the first half seemed a success for Texas coach Vic Schaefer.
