Texas Parks and Wildlife filed a petition to condemn the property with former Fairfield Lake State Park.
An aerial view of Fairfield Lake State Park in June.Texas Parks and Wildlife has filed to condemn a 5,000-acre piece of land that contains the former Fairfield Lake State Park, making progress toward seizing the property from a Dallas-based developer through eminent domain.
“This step is necessary to pursue acquisition at fair market value to preserve Fairfield Lake State Park and Fairfield Lake for all Texans,” the department said in an email to“TPWD and its commissioners remain steadfast in their commitment to reopen a public resource that has provided camping, hiking, fishing and horseback riding for tens of thousands of visitors each year for the past half century.
